英文摘要
Waterloo's Speech Processing and Natural Language Understanding AI Software offers a novel way of
replicating digital sound files as a smooth and continuously (i.e. "analog") function in time and sound
frequency. It adjusts and transforms the functional representation of human generated phonetics to generate
words and sentences in the manner of natural human speech. Current competitive products lack the phrasing of
natural human speech and degrade the emotive connection during human interaction. Some advantages of this
innovation include: (1) replicating natural human speech, (2) speech recognition without impediments posed by
background noise, accents or dialects (3) significant compression of the synthesized sound data relative to the
original digital recording.
This innovation has application in the telecommunication, automotive, banking, healthcare and military
industries. Voice activated systems including voice-enabled devices and virtual assistants are readily adopted in
the automotive industry and call centres. These technologies have become increasingly valuable in countering
fraudulent activities and enhancing security in the banking industry through the adoption of voice biometrics
for user authentication. Voice recognition and synthesis is also highly valuable in the healthcare sector as it
enables efficiencies and cost savings in patient interaction and clinical documentation.
As part of this Market Assessment grant, the selected consultant (Adventus) will perform a thorough market
analysis to identify the most suitable market opportunities along with technical, marketing and financial
challenges associated with the application of the technology in a particular market segment. A favorable market
assessment result will (1) formulate the commercialization strategy and help attract early stage investments (2)
form the basis for submitting a follow-on NSERC I2I Phase 1 project proposal.
