The new home construction industry has a quandary - buyers want environmentally sustainable homes, but
without an increase to the purchase price. Environmental sustainability in the construction industry is a growing trend that Levven Electronics (Levven) values and wants to contribute to. Levven has a solution that reduces carbon
footprints using "smart home-ready" wireless controllers, lighting and audio products. Levven and Green Building Technologies (GBT) at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) will analyze the embedded CO2 of their switching product components to understand the material properties, supply chain with the intent to reduce the technology's emission and reduce production costs. The commercialized final product will support homeowners to reduce GHG emissions by monitoring their energy consumption. It will provide builders a sustainable, responsibly constructed tool they can add to their new builds because it is cost-effective. Levven is a Canadian company that manufactures their product and moldings in Edmonton, Alberta and currently employs 33 people. By August 2022 they are expected to have 79 employees with the majority in production and engineering. Levven anticipates sales of their wireless switching product to account for 82% of their projected 2023 $21.2M revenue, 64% of 2022 $10.3M revenue, and 37% of 2021 $6.26M revenue.
