In fact, IRSST data shows that CGT is the most frequent type of accident, representing 17% of all work accidents and affecting more than 11,000 Quebecers per year. This type of accident represents the 2nd largest expense item of all work accidents ($ 434M / year). Royer has been developing anti-slip shoes for years, but standardized tests are not always representative of the performance observed in real situations. This project therefore aims to develop a system that will measure the slip of the soles in real situations, with a system integrated into the shoes, in order to better guide Royer's R&D efforts. For best results, sensors will be integrated directly into the sole. This project will support the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of wearable electronics (1 MSc student and 1 research assistant), a market of $ 33B, in addition to developing a new tool that will ultimately help answer new scientific questions and reduce falls.
