Wireless communications and advanced sensors require advanced antennas of various types and associated microwave and millimeter devices. The proposed research deals with fundamental problems in Electromagnetic Engineering with the main focus on antennas, microwave circuits, devices and their integration in the electromagnetic environment as well as new emerging issues in electromagnetic wave phenomena. These are areas of vital importance to advancing information and communication technology (ICT) and sensor technology. The main objectives are to investigate and develop analytical and experimental techniques for developing innovative antenna systems, new materials for circuits and antenna miniaturization, phased arrays and smart antennas, mutual coupling effects, wave-object interaction and applications to electromagnetic compatibility and interference, to health issues and to communications. The research is conducted in parallel with practical implementation and technology transfer to industry in mind.
