Network epidemic models offer a framework to describe livestock populations. Specifically, the way in which animals interact over time and how those interactions influence the transmission of infectious diseases. An important aspect of improving the rate at which farmers comply with disease control recommendations requires an understanding of how individual behaviour influences the animal contact network over time. This research program will apply a network framework to research questions of high priority for agricultural livestock systems and will permit the identification of network-based disease prevention and control strategies to improve animal health.
