Benefuel Sarnia Ltd. has developed a novel and patented catalytic process ENSEL® for refining renewable feedstock's into a variety of high margin products, including fuel, oleochemicals and biodegradable lubricants - a combined global market estimated at over one hundred billion dollars. Benefuel through this proposed project in collaboration with Lambton College's Bioindustrial Process Research Centre (BPRC) is planning for lab scale method development, experimental design and analysis for the many different feedstocks Benefuel is planning on acquiring for theirfull scale biodiesel facility. These feedstocks will be tested from a variety of sources. The operation of the pilot plant has determined the need for a significant amount of analysis and method development to determine the characteristics of the feedstocks before they enter the production process. The BPRC research team will work closely with Benefuel to carry out the project. This project will contribute to the successful commercialization of a new $73.5 million advanced manufacturing facility with a low carbon foot-print and will directly employ 45 new full-time jobs with a $5 million annual payroll.
