Conference on Noun Incorporation in Austronesian Languages, Honolulu, Hawaii, March 1998

南岛正式语言学协会(AFLA)计划于1998年3月27日至29日举行一次特别会议。第五届AFLA的主题是“南岛语言中名词并入的前景”。为了充分探讨名词并入(NI)的理论含义，AFLA V将邀请以南岛语为母语的语言学家参加。受邀者是来自塔那那利佛大学(马达加斯加)的两名与会者、来自梅西大学(新西兰)的一名讲马达加斯加语的语言学家和来自南太平洋大学(瓦努阿图)的一名语言学家。NI之所以被选为会议的主题，是因为它在南岛语系中是一种卓有成效的策略，也是因为NI对句法和词法理论的基本问题具有重要意义。主旨演讲者将就NI在语法中发生的位置(从转换方法在句法中定位NI，到词汇主义方法在构词过程中定位NI)以及解释NI的语义和形态属性所需的语言理论的性质提出几个观点。

A special meeting of the Austronesian Formal Linguistics Association (AFLA) is planned for 27-29 March 1998. The theme for AFLA V will be "Perspectives on Noun Incorporation in Austronesian Languages." In order to explore the theoretical implications of noun incorporation (NI) fully, AFLA V will invite linguists who are native speakers of Austronesian languages to participate. The invitees are two participants from University of Antananarivo (Madagascar), one Malagasy-speaking linguist from Massey University (New Zealand), and one linguist from the University of the South Pacific (Vanuatu). NI has been selected as the theme for the meeting because it is a highly productive strategy in the family of Austronesian languages, and also because of the significance of NI for fundamental issues of syntactic and morphological theory. Keynote speakers will present several perspectives on where NI takes place in the grammar (from transformational approaches locating NI in the syntax, through to lexicalist approaches locating NI in processes of word formation), and hence the nature of the linguistic theory required to account for its semantic and morphological properties.
