Phylogenetic Study of South American Monkeys

本研究的目的有两个：第一，为现存的南美猴，特别是Alouatta之间的分类关系提供基础数据。斋雾通过形态学方法，已经发现了直接古代化石的Callithrix和Cacaiao，二是通过对中新世灵长类动物的古生物发掘，获得南美洲猴类繁衍的基础资料，收集其绝对年龄和古生物学的基本信息。利用地质学方法，对中新世灵长类动物的生存环境进行了初步的研究。在哥伦比亚乌伊拉省的沙漠地区，我们自1979年以来就在那里发现了灵长类动物化石。生活南美猴子的比较研究将在巴西的几个博物馆进行，如里约热内卢灵长类动物中心.贝伦和马瑙斯自然历史博物馆.在阿根廷、巴西、玻利维亚和美国的几所大学和研究机构将进行化石和现存南美猴的比较研究。

The purpose of the present research is two-fold : First to get the basic data for the taxonomic relationships among the living South American Monkeys, especially Alouatta. Saimiri. Callithrix and Cacaiao of which the direct ancient fossils were already discovered, by means of morphological methods, and second to get basic data for the phylogeny of the South American Monkeys by means of paleontological excavation of the Miocene primates and to gather the basic information about the absolute age and paleo-environment of which Miocene primates inhabited by means of geological methods.The paleontological and geological researches will be done in the semi-desert area in the Huila Department of Colombia, where we have already discovered fossil primates since 1979. The Comparative studies of living South American monkeys will be done in the several museums in Brasil, such as primate Center of Rio de laneiro.Natural History Museums of Beren and Manaus. The comparative studies between fossil and living South American monkeys will be done in the several universities and institutions in Argentina.Brasil.Bolivia and USA.
