The Internet of Things (IoT) looks to revolutionise how data can inform many aspects of our society. The explosion of `smart' home electronics, artificial intelligence, remote systems and wearables provides an insight of the benefits of the inter-connectivity of devices and the sharing of data. If electronics can be embedded in a wide range of situations it could provide access to data from a range of sources, such as air quality and gas composition in ventilation, the energy usage of households, detection of proteins or viruses and many other applications. Printed electronics (PE) is making this a reality by producing cheaper, flexible electronics faster than traditional semiconductor methods [1][2][3]. This project aims to explore the potential of producing an integrated solution of internet enabled devices that can provide data for a range of tasks while still being cost competitive over its lifetime. This involves in designing self-sufficient energy harvesting devices with micro/nanoscale, energy efficient components including range of different sensors, actuators, batteries and more that incorporate the latest advancements in PE.
