This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Childhood Asthma Management Program (CAMP) Continuation Study 2 (CAMPCS/2) is a four year extension of an ongoing 10 year study of childhood asthma. The original CAMP study was a 4-6 year study of intervention with either budesonide (an inhaled corticosteroid), nedocromil (a non-steroid), or as need bronchodilator therapy alone in the study population of over 1,000 children ages 5-13 years at the time of randomization. The CAMPCS and CAMPCS/2 study is designed to evaluate the effect of this intense treatment period on maximal lung growth and body development.
