Understanding how the major class of drug targets work

G蛋白偶联受体（gpcr）是生物体内最大的受体家族和药物靶点。目前，新药未能进入临床的主要原因是缺乏适当的药物效果(约。30%)。因此，我们需要更好地了解gpcr是如何工作的，以及它与疾病的关系。我的研究项目将利用与代谢、炎症、心血管和中枢神经系统疾病治疗相关的GPCR模型来解决这一知识缺口。

G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) form the largest family of receptors and drug targets in living organisms. Currently, the major reason that new drugs fail to reach the clinic is lack of appropriate drug effect (approx. 30%). Thus, we need a better understanding of how GPCRs work and how this relates to disease. Work within my fellowship will address this knowledge gap, using GPCR models that are relevant to treatment of metabolic, inflammatory, cardiovascular and central nervous system disease.
