Hatch Ltd., based in Mississauga, Ontario, is a leader in providing engineering services to the Canadian and international mining, port authorities, and manufacturing companies. Specifically, the corrosion division has been working on a number of issues in regards to the corrosion of steel pipelines in seawater environments, which bring low quality water to the mines for mineral extraction and processing. This water typically contains organisms, which cause devastating damage to the pipeline infrastructure through microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC).
