英文摘要
Seaco Marine Inc. manufactures custom commercial and residential dock systems and dock kits. The company**aims at continually developing and investigating new and innovative products that are functional and**structurally dependable as well as being environmentally conscious. The company has been designing and**building docks over the past twenty-five years with a focus on product improvement such that they are able to**offer a wide array of marine products from docks and gangways to floats and accessories. In a quest to provide**enhanced systems, they have investigated different materials and joint designs with the desirable outcome of**understanding environmental factors to produce custom dock solutions appropriate for individual situations.**The company is committed to providing its customers with reliable and durable systems while minimizing**environmental impact.**Recently, Seaco Marine has begun developing a Breakwater system for a new application. 3D models of the**current design are available and a dynamic analysis is required to understand the effect of live and dead**loading, including impact of waves caused by prevailing winds, potential wake from passing watercraft and**seasonal changes in water level. Simulation software capable of modelling wave dissipation taking a multitude**of factors into consideration will allow for the company to finalize a design. For a breakwater, design**optimization is dependent not only on structural load, but also on response to dynamic fluid flow. In addition,**an application requiring a gangway measuring 80 feet in length has also arisen. This length exceeds currently**proven designs and requires evaluation and prediction of structural integrity. Seaco has opted to partner with**Red River College's Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing (TACAM) team to analyze**and study 1) various fluid flow parameters for design optimization of the concept breakwater using**computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and 2) static and dynamic loading for optimization of the
