The proposed project aims to address the barriers to electric vehicle (EV) adoption by demonstrating a**blockchain-powered EV charging management platform that will significantly reduce the cost of transactional EV**charging and materially enhance grid efficiency. This will be accomplished through integration with transactive**energy (TE) networks that leverage EVs as distributed energy resource (DER) assets using blockchain**technologies.**TE is a grid management approach that ensures the proper functioning of power networks that contain DER**assets including electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and battery energy**storage systems (BESS), through use of location and time specific price signals. The price signals generated by a**TE marketplace are the result of interactions between end-users, utilities, and regulators, and can be designed to**alter consumption behaviour to enhance grid efficiency. Blockchain is an open, distributed ledger that can record**transactions between two parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way. The verifiability and**permanence are key to reducing transactions costs as the middle-mans role in providing trust is eliminated. As**such, it has received significant attention as a promising technology in powering EV charging and TE networks.**Our proposed project aims to leverage blockchain and V2G technologies to integrate EVSEs into TE networks and**promote the commercialization of innovative EV-enabling technologies.
