The CRC in Phytoanalytics investigates the wide range of chemicals produced by plants, how they are synthesized, regulated and allocated within plant tissues, their extractability and activity and their role in plant and human health. This research has the potential to improve agricultural management practices, advance laboratory testing of these products, support development of novel therapeutics, and affect policy in the regulation of botanical-based natural health products. Through this work, we can ensure Canadians achieve the potential health and economic benefits afforded by medicinal plants and their products.
