9353852 Jacobsen The University of California, Los Angeles, School of Engineering and Applied Science will initiate a 20-week commuter, Young Scholars project in mathematics and physics for 40 students entering in the grade. This program will provide geometry/physics research training within a thematic framework of environmental science, engineering and technology. Class discussions, video illustrations, and computer aided instruction will help students achieve mastery. Educational planning, career exploration and parental involvement activities will also be included. Fourteen Saturday meetings will provide continuity of instruction, monitor college prep course enrollment and continue parental involvement. ***
