Green, Stanley OsherThe Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) is a nationalresearch institute that focuses on fostering interactions that bringtogether researchers in the mathematical sciences with scientists andengineers. The Institute operates without permanent faculty orresearch staff. IPAM conducts semester-length programs, shortworkshops, a summer research program for undergraduates, graduatesummer schools, outreach programs, and workshops to develop andenhance the careers of researchers from groups underrepresented in themathematical sciences.The IPAM web site at http://www.ipam.ucla.edu/ describes upcoming andpast programs, solicits ideas for future programs, and offersapplication forms for Institute activities.
