Selective oxidations of organic substrates especially hydrocarbons using air as an oxidant are important reactions in homogeneous catalysis. While regular kinetic investigations in the lab (e. g. using stopped-flow measurements) can provide solid basic information regarding the mechanism of such reactions, the reactivity can be quite different in an industrial process setup. The major goal of this research project is the development of iron catalysts for selective catalytic oxidation reactions. The final goal then would be to use these compounds on an industrial scale. Especially in co-operation with the other research groups of the SPP a reactivity tuning should be achieved for selectivity of oxidation products.
