项目摘要

４月から６月まで、ベルリン自由大学においてJochem Kahl教授の指導を受けながら研究を進めた。具体的には、崇拝活動に伴う経済活動に関する研究が学界の課題となっていることから、先進的な研究手法として、古代エジプトの経済的な証拠、各地でその地域差が認められる動物ミイラ棺を分析することで、動物崇拝に関わる経済的活動の痕跡を突き止めることが可能かもしれないとご教示頂いた。その後、８月から９月にかけては、中エジプトでのフィールド調査を実施した。この調査では、まずアコリス遺跡の発掘調査に参加し、神殿内に納めるためのワニのための壁龕に関する調査を行った。なお、この発掘調査で得た知見および研究成果は、12月に東京で開催された国際学会The Archaeozoology of Southwest Asia and Adjacent Areasにて発表した。アシュート遺跡では、土器を専門に研究しているAndrea Kilian教授およびTeodozja Rzeuska教授から動物ミイラ棺に関する貴重な知識を得たが、調査期間の制約からすべてを網羅することはできなかった。そのため、来年度も引き続きアシュート遺跡での発掘調査、この発掘調査参加中に新たに紹介していただいたエジプト最大規模の動物墓地であるトゥナ・エル＝ジェベル遺跡の調査に参加することで、さらなるデータを収集する予定である。10月以降は、引き続きベルリン自由大学においてJochem Kahl教授の指導を受けつつ、エジプト各地から出土している土器棺資料の分析をすすめつつ、プトレマイオス朝のみなならず王朝時代の動物崇拝についての理解を深めるとともに、ベルリン新博物館およびフンボルト博物館での実地調査を通じて、動物ミイラ等の実際の史資料に触れつつ研究を行った。
