本研究課題は21年度、22年度において以下の点を明らかにした。研究代表者・梅津がシューベルトの歌曲集の分析と解釈に際して用いて高い評価を得た、隠れた象徴の読み解きを、シューベルトの三大歌曲集に応用することで、異文化圏としての日本における受容が生み出した問題点を明らかにする。同時に原曲が創作されたドイツ語文化圏におけるこの作品の伝統的理解にも逆照射することにより、それのもつ現代における限界をも明らかにする。21年度は《水車屋の美しい娘》のテクストにおける象徴の読み解きを行い、水車屋という職業がドイツ社会の中で差別されていた社会構造、また水車屋の娘が、性産業の対象として扱われていた裏面史が明らかになった。それは裏面史として隠されていたため、従来の楽曲解説や研究に反映されておらず、象徴の読み解きとそれに関する資料の読み解きによってしか明らかにされ得ないことであった。梅津はそれを元に《水車屋の美しい娘》の作詞者であるミュラーの日記と、最初の作曲者のベルガーの楽曲を読み解き、22年度に研究書『《水車屋の美しい娘》シューベルトとミュラーと浄化の調べ』に結実した。そのことは、ドイツ国内の研究においても逆照射して反映される契機を生んだ。哲学者、Harald Schwaetzer前クザーヌス大学教授は本研究を広くドイツ学会に知らしめるべく、本研究における「菩提樹」のドイツ語論文をドイツで「哲学叢書」として刊行するため、22年度において梅津とメール等で討論を交わし、23年度半ばにそれは実現する。23年度にクザーヌス大学前教授のHarald Schwaetzer、バリトンでモーゼル音楽祭監督のTobias Scharfenberger、翻訳家のErika Herzogの３人が来日、日本側から八巻和彦早稲田大学名誉教授、大島幾雄桐朋学園大学特任教授らが加わりゼミナールを開き研究を深める予定である。
