本研究は，（１）国際学力調査・海外の国内学力調査，（２）海外の読書指導法，（３）読書モチベーション等質問紙調査の研究を通して，資質・能力の育成に資する紙及びデジタル読書の指導法及び評価法を開発することを目的としている。研究の方法としては，教育現場での教育実践の試行を含んでいる。令和４年度については，以下のことを行った。（１）としては国際学力調査PISA及びPIRLSのデジタル読解力の評価について，学会発表を行った。海外の国内学力調査は，スペインの中学校４年生の学力調査を分析しているところであるが，まだ結論を出すには至っていない。また，「読書に関する学力調査」の研究をレビューした記事を掲載した図書は，令和３年度に執筆を開始したものであったが，令和４年度に校正作業を経て刊行となった。（２）の海外の読書指導法の教育現場における試行については，５種類のことを行った。まず，幼稚園で４歳児・５歳児に「読書へのアニマシオン」の実践を行い，データを収集した。さらに小学校現場でも「読書へのアニマシオン」の実践を行い，児童の反応についてのデータを収集した。中学校現場では一人一台端末を使用して「読者想定法」の実践を行い，各種ワークシートのデータを収集した。大学生及び教員研修の現場では，「インクワイアリー・サークル」の試行的実践を行い，その結果と考察を論文として執筆した。さらに，海外の読書指導の基礎論となる読書材（絵本）及びその読者反応の国際比較についての論文を執筆した。（３）読書モチベ―ションとしては，大学生の日米比較の研究が掲載となった。その他，国際学力調査の質問（紙）調査の分析を進めているところである。
