本研究は全身麻酔で手術を受ける術後患者の看護ケアに焦点をあて、看護学生のフィジカルアセスメント能力を育む教育プログラムを開発し、フィジカルアセスメント能力向上とアセスメントに基づく看護ケアの実践能力向上を目指している。 2020年度は学生や熟練看護師の看護実践における思考過程や看護実践におけるアセスメントの構造に関する文献や学術書を参考に暫定版資料の見直しを行った。2021年度は術後患者に共通して存在する看護上の問題を中心に据えて、疾患背景から看護ケアの間に跨るアセスメントの構造を図示し、構成要素と構成要素間の関係性を整理した。そしてアセスメント能力における評価指標を明確にするために、図示したアセスメントの構造と学術書の記述内容を比較検討した。その結果、学術書の記述は抽象度が高く、看護ケアの導出に至るまでのプロセスが不明瞭であることがわかった。2022年度はアセスメントの構造を具現化しアセスメント能力の評価指標を明確にするために、文献検討をさらにおこなった。加えて臨床経験のある看護師複数名を対象として看護上の問題を捉える際の思考過程（臨床推論）をヒアリングした。それらの結果、初学者を対象とした学術書が示す一般的な看護上の問題の導き方と臨床経験のある看護師とでは明確な差異があることがわかった。研究者間での検討を重ね、2023年度は看護師の思考過程（臨床推論）をベースとしたプログラム開発（アセスメント能力における評価指標の明確化および評価表の作成、教材の作成、シミュレーションによる評価）を目指す。
