项目摘要

本研究は英語圏における〈教育機会の平等〉概念の展開や変遷について、哲学的な観点から検討し明らかにしようとするものである。2022年度は、研究計画で予定した現代の〈教育の正義〉論争の検討を主に行いつつ、それに関連する基礎的検討も行い、研究発表を行った。その主な成果は以下の2点である。一つは、現代の教育の正義論争の検討として、教育の適切・妥当性論と教育の平等論の対立の検討を行ったことである。その内容は、PESA Conference 2022で報告した（12月9日）。そこでは、教育における広い意味での二つのタイプの平等主義ーー教育の適切・妥当性論と教育の平等論ーーの理論的な背景や特徴を分析しつつ、それらの理論内部における価値の対立や、それら二つの理論の対立について検討した。一方の教育の適切・妥当性論は、関係論的平等主義に立脚しつつ、分配原理として十分主義を採用する立場である。他方の教育の平等論は、分配原理としての教育のメリトクラティックな平等を採用しつつ、他の原理や価値を組み合わせる多元論的な立場である。その検討結果として、後者の教育の平等論が立脚するより根底的な平等主義の理想として、前者と共通の関係論的平等主義が見出しうること、それゆえより根本的な次元では二つの立場を和解させるような見方がありうることを指摘した。もう一つは、上記の教育の正義に関する諸潮流の一つの源流とみなせるJ. ロールズの平等主義の検討を行ったことである。その内容は、日本イギリス理想主義学会2022年度研究大会で報告した（12月3日）。ロールズの平等主義を関係論的平等主義として解釈した上で、その平等主義の源流の一部をH. シジウィックとR. H. トーニーに見出して検討した。
