本研究では、図を伴う算数文章題解決を用いて言語的情報と視空的情報の統合過程の認知メカニズムを明らかにすることを目的としている。そのために、参加者に対して図を伴う算数文章題の解決を求め、問題解決時に必要とされた時間を測定する実験を行うことを計画している。また、作動記憶課題、特にエピソード・バッファに関する課題成績と問題解決時間との関連性の検討を行う。実験では実験刺激を作成するためのソフトウェアや刺激を提示・反応の測定を行う装置などが必要となるため、実験実施に必要な環境の整備を行い、図を伴う算数文章題解決の解決時間のおよびエピソード・バッファに関する課題成績の測定を行うことを計画していた。2022年度には図を伴う算数文章題の解決を求める実験、および、言語的情報と視空間的情報の両方を求める課題を実施し進めデータを取得する予定をしていた。2022年度においてはコロナウイルス感染症の影響があったものの以前に比べて状況は改善し、実験参加者に対して実験を実施しすることが可能となり、一定のデータの取得を行った。また、取得したデータを元に、問題解決には必要の無い図が提示されている場合や、図を利用することが問題を解決する上で必須な場合の文章題の問題解決時間について分析を進めた。また、図を伴う算数文章題解決時の注視パターンの測定を目的とした実験に関しては2022年度中には実施ができていないものの、引き続きアイトラッカーを利用した実験実施環境およびプログラムの作成をすすめている。
