本研究は、子どもを持つ母親を対象として、産後１か月～１年の前向き縦断調査を行い、（１）産後うつの時間的推移と各経過時間における寄与因子を探索すること、その際には、家庭の社会経済的状況別にも結果を探索することを目的とした。また、（２）各経過時間における産後うつが、育児不安感や養育態度、子どもの虐待関連指標等に与える影響を明らかにすること、その際には、上記と同様に、家庭の社会経済的状況別にも結果を探索すること、を目的としている。当初の計画では、自治体等の協力を得て管轄自治体に居住する妊産婦等を対象とした質問紙調査（予備調査及び、本調査）を開始する予定であった。しかし、COVID-19の感染拡大のため自治体から研究協力を得ることが2021年度時点で困難な状況となった。このため、調査方法をweb調査へ変更し、それに伴い調査設計を再編成・再検討することとなった。上記の状況を受け、今年度はweb調査への変更に伴う調査設計の再検討を行った。その結果、対象者の追跡期間について、産前から追跡する方が課題検討を行う上で重要であると判断した。このため当初の計画である「産後１か月」からの追跡ではなく、「妊娠中」から追跡を行うことへ変更することとした。また、実査開始に向け、調査票を完成させると共に、研究倫理審査を受け研究機関の長より研究実施の許可を得た。
