项目摘要

本研究の目的は、工芸品に注目して、一方的な文化の影響論ではなく、文化の交渉史として歴史叙述を考えることである。このため、時代の転換期ともいえる19世紀末の一時期を輪切りにし、工芸品に焦点をあてて「金唐紙」と「金唐革」について調査することで、新たな美術の歴史を描く試みをはじめた。2年目となる本年度は、1年目の課題であった新たな研究の枠組みのモデルとなりえるアイデアや知識を考える、理論面の研究を進めた。最も大きな成果は、京都精華大学学長室/アフリカ・アジア現代文化センターが主催したオンライン国際会議、Quelles perspectives pour l'Afrique: Expo2025（アフリカの大阪・関西万博（EXPO2025）への展望）に参加し、フランス語で発表されたドバイ万国博覧会西アフリカマリ共和国館館長のNakhana Diakite Prats氏の発表内容について、意見と提案を述べたことである。またディスカッサントとして会議に参加し、万博の意義や主催国と参加国にどのようなインパクトがあるのか、何がレガシーとして残るのかについて討議をおこなった。さらに思文閣出版から万博学についてのジャーナルを創刊する計画を進め、共同研究者と編集会議を重ねている。このように、年間を通した研究テーマとして掲げていた「世界美術史の構築」に向け、大きく前進することができた。「金唐紙」と「金唐革」という万国博覧会で展示された工芸を考える上で、万博学という研究のプラットフォームに参加できることは研究者にとって重要な意義を持つものとなっており、また北アフリカで生まれた革製品の成り立ちや流通を考える上で、西アフリカ研究を中心とした国内外の研究者と議論を交わすことができる下地を作ることができたことは、大きな成果のひとつである。
