项目摘要

近世中後期の上方における読本制作の特質とその事情を、戯作と文壇・学問の潮流との関連を視座に解明していく本研究の目的のもと、本年度は主として、秋里籬島による「図会もの」読本の周辺作であり、同時に、文禄・慶長の役を描く作品として、近世を通して展開した朝鮮軍記物のなかにも位置付けられる『絵本朝鮮軍記』（寛政12年刊）を対象とする研究を実施した。具体的には、先行研究でこの作品の種本と指摘されている『朝鮮軍記大全』（姓貴作、宝永2年刊）と対照して叙述の付加・改変と筆致の相違から形成方法を明らかにし、作者の著述態度の特性を捉えていくことを試みた。その結果として、前述の種本以外には『朝鮮征伐軍記講』（節斎散人著、明和8年成）を利用した実態が明らかとなり、初期作と合わせ見て籬島が小説の執筆に実録を利用する傾向が認められた。著述態度としては、作者が史観の直截的な表出はせず、秀吉を肯定的に描く方向性で、先行作からの摂取内容を穏当に調整・編集した様子や、話の主軸に影響しにくい箇所に実録から取り込んだ話や軍術の素材を織り込む構成をとることが明らかとなった。そして、籬島の『信長記拾遺』をはじめとする他作品をあわせ見たときには共通の秀吉評と文禄・慶長の役に関する認識が見出され、作者の伝記を鑑みると家系に由縁のある武将の描写を意図したことが考えられた。この研究成果には、秀吉の一代記及び絵本読本として重要な位置にある『絵本太閤記』と同時期に先行の戦記・雑史類を選択・摂取して朝鮮軍記物に取り組んだ作者の傾向の分析として、当代の歴史研究の情勢と文壇におけるその認識・知識体系の解明に資する意義があると考えている。
