项目摘要

本年度は主に以下の研究を進めた。(1) 和文書体カスタマイズシステムの設計と開発：昨年度に引き続き、和文書体カスタマイズシステムの開発を行った。システムの実用性を高めるために技術仕様を見直した。また、ディスレクシアを持つ読者を主な対象として想定しているため、システムの「使いやすさ」向上のために対象となる利用者の評価を受けながら開発を進めるというユーザー中心設計の手法を採った。COVID-19の影響によりオンラインでの評価実験を実施するための機能実装を開発の一環として行った。(2) 和文書体カスタマイズシステムの評価：評価実験を2020年7-8月と2021年2-3月に行った。実験の目的は、和文書体カスタマイズシステムの使いやすさとシステムを使って作成された書体の読みやすさを評価することに加え、文字の形とディスレクシアの症状の関連を探索するためのデータを収集することである。初回実験には11名のディスレクシアを持つ読者が参加し、9名の有効データが得られた。フォローアップ実験には8名が参加し、8名の有効データが得られた。システムの使いやすさに関しては、思考発話法とウェブユーザビリティ評価スケールに基づいて作成した質問紙を用いた。評価スケールの結果としては、「操作のわかりやすさ」と「役立ち感」が特に高い評価を得た。作成された書体の読みやすさに関しては、一対比較法を用いて検証した。評価の結果、自身で作成した書体の方が提示された書体よりも読みやすいことが明らかになった。フォローアップ実験においても、読みやすさの主観評価の結果は参加者ごとに一貫しており、全体としても自身で作成した書体がより読みやすいという結果となった。二回の実験結果からは、本システムの有用性が実証されたばかりでなく、ディスレクシアを持つ読者が自身で書体を作成することの実行可能性と有効性が示された。
