项目摘要

本研究は、通言語的にも観察される韻律現象であるダウンステップについて、特に日本語をとりあげ、発音、および知覚、意味解釈が、文の音韻構造、統語構造、情報構造によってどのような影響を受けるかを、特に以下の３点から議論する。（１）ダウンステップの産出に関して、品詞によりダウンステップのパターンが異なるという仮説を検証する。ダウンステップの判別方法について議論する。（２）ダウンステップの有無およびその程度が知覚にどのような影響を与えるのか明らかにする。（３）文の意味解釈（comprehension）におけるダウンステップの果たす役割を調査する。（１）は成果の一部を既に国際雑誌に研究論文を投稿して成果を発表した。研究４年目となる令和４年度は、（１）のフォローアップとして行った形容詞の語順と自然性の産出実験の結果をまとめ、更に（２）（３）に関して行った実験結果を学会及び予稿集にて発表した。産出実験では、形容詞の語尾が同じものが続くと、そうでない時に比べて名詞句全体のpreferenceが下がるという結果に対して、ダウンステップの程度もそれに並行したパターンを見せると分析できる結果が得られた。しかし実験アイテムが少なく、この結果は精査が必要である。知覚実験では、ダウンステップ産出（=発音）で見られるよりかなり大きなピッチ変化があっても、そのフレーズを特に強調されているとは感じない被験者が多かった。この発音と知覚の差について更に令和５年度に精査する予定である。（１）の派生課題として昨年度、形容詞の語順とダウンステップの関係についての実験を行い学会発表したが、その後得たフィードバックを基にして、日本語の名詞句において主要部の名詞を修飾する語の語順に傾向があるのかについて深く調査する予定である。実験文をより精査し令和５年度にすぐに実験が実行できる手筈になっている。
