本研究の目的は、学生が英語多読を行う際、負荷や制限を設けた場合にどのような結果がもたらされるかを考察することである。本研究の実験デザインは、実験群１と２を主の研究対象とし、多読制限に関する学生の行動と態度の検証を行うことで、これまでの研究の途中経過をAsiaTEFL international conferenceにて発表できた。久々の対面での研究発表であったが、様々な議論をすることができた。中でも、語数制限の設定に関する質問が多く、やはり語数の設定については、研究機関、教育機関によって、現場での学生の習熟度によって、考察を重ねていることが理解できた。この点は、もう一つの質問で多かったTOEICのスコアレンジにも関係し、習熟度の測定方法についても注意を払っていかなければならないと再認識させられた。本研究においても、Day and Bamford (1998)のten principlesを参照し、多読の原則にも注意を払っていった。さらに、この研究を行う中で頭に入れておかなければならないことの一つは、言語の違いによる母国語転移や母語干渉である。実証研究の結果、van Ek & Trim (1991, 2001)などを参照し、解釈の助けとした。これまでの研究結果は、最終的な学会発表も計画している。そして、最終結果を学会誌に投稿するため、まとめを論文として書き進めている。過去に国際誌に論文を発表した経験から、国際誌に掲載されるにはかなりの時間を要することを認識している。そのため、できる限り早い時期に論文を提出できるようにする。さらに国際誌に掲載されることで海外の研究者から連絡が来て、次の研究につながることも多々あるため、前回の科研同様、国際誌での論文掲載は必須であると考える。
