前年度までと同様にコロナウィルスの感染拡大の影響を受けつつも、前半は国内での幕末明治初期写真史料の調査研究に取り組んだ。また後半には、当初は2019年度に計画していたが実行が困難となっていた海外所在の日本関係古写真史料の現地調査を再開した。今年度の主な調査研究と成果の公表は、以下であった。①彩色写真技法「写真油絵」の復元調査：横山松三郎の弟子の小豆澤亮一が明治18年に特許を取得し僅か数年間だけ用いられた、和紙を用いた日本独自の技法である紙製の「写真油絵」の復元に取り組んだ。現存する作品の表面にはひび割れなどの劣化が目立ち、保存修理法の確立が急がれている。そこで僅か6行の特許文面を読み解き、さらに文化財修復工房の技術者の協力を得て再現した失われた技法の実際について、イタリアで開催された国際カンファレンス「Colour Photography and Film, 2nd edition」において報告し、国際的に成果を公表した。②本山家伝来古写真調査：長崎本石灰町乙名であった本山家伝来の古写真資料群の調査および撮影・目録整備（写真101点、関連附属品4件5点）・保存処置を行った。調査で得られた知見および目録と画像は、長崎市長崎学研究所紀要『長崎学』第７号に掲載して、一般に公表した。③木村芥舟関係写真資料調査：幕末期に幕府の要職を歴任した木村芥舟関係写真資料について、高精細デジタル撮影（130カット）を中心とする調査研究を行った。④イタリア所在日本関係古写真調査：文明博物館および軍事地理研究所に出張し、幕末の日本関係古写真について調査および画像収集（260カット）を行った。成果の一部は「海外所在日本関係古写真史料の調査研究の概要-在イタリア、在オランダを中心に-」『国際研究集会「海外所在日本関係古写真の史料学研究」』JSPS科研費（JP19K00934）共催のなかで報告した。

In the previous year, the influence of the same phenomenon was greatly affected. In the first half, the investigation and research of the photo historical materials of the end of Meiji period in China were selected. In the second half of the year, the original plan for 2019 was to re-open the field survey of historical materials on Japan's relations with overseas countries.
