コロナ禍を経て、わが国の学校教育は徐々に日常を取り戻しつつある。そのようななかで、わが国の教室における多様性は、拡大しつづけているといえる。近年、わが国の外国人労働者数増加に伴い、教室における外国にルーツをもつ児童・生徒の数は急激に上昇している。クラスに複数の外国ルーツの児童・生徒がいることもまれではなく、教室の多文化化が大きく広がっている現状である。これまでの教育心理学研究においては、学級集団に関する研究や教室の対人関係に関するテーマが扱われてきているものの、多文化化する教室環境を踏まえて、児童・生徒がどのように教室における相互作用や学習行動を行っているかに関する視点はほとんどみられなかった。本研究課題では、多文化化する教室において、どのような集団づくりや教室環境づくりが行われているかという問題に注目する。教室において、わが国の児童が自国とは異なる文化や価値観に対して、どのように考え、向き合っているのか、そしてどのような相互作用を行っているかについて、学習動機づけ研究、文化心理学における学級・教室研究などの観点から問題設定を行い、教室の社会的環境と、学習動機づけや適応の諸指標との関連を検討している。研究の進捗は、コロナ禍の期間において、海外での調査研究に大きな困難が生じている。2019年度と2020年度の学級風土や教室環境についての調査研究、そして全国の教員に対してオンライン調査を実施したデータの整理分析を行い、さらに多角的に検討し、知見を見出しつつある。
