项目摘要

今年度も、西鶴以降の前期小説と特に絵画との関係性について基礎的研究を進めた。昨年度に引き続き、西鶴の挿絵と出版状況及び実際の器物との関係性について整理・調査を進めている。特に、従来の挿絵のキャプションに言及されない器物類と文化・社会的背景について調査を進めてきた。例えば、茶の湯に関し、美術館・博物館の現存所蔵品との比較、或いは浮世草子以降の書籍の挿絵と比較することで、近世初期における一般的な茶の湯理解が明示されてくるのではないかと想定し調査してきた。特に、今年度は京都国立博物館の特別展「茶の湯」展が開催され、京都の各博物館・美術館も足並みを合わせ、茶の湯関連の展覧会が盛況だった。京都国立博物館が「茶の湯の原形は、平安時代末頃に中国からもたらされました。鎌倉、南北朝、室町と時代が進むなかで徐々に和様化し、いまや日本文化を象徴するものとして世界で認知されています。現在でも、茶道の家元や茶家の多くが京都を本拠とするように、京都は茶の湯の歴史のなかで、中心的な役割を果たしてきました。」と説明するように、京都が刊行の中心地であった浮世草子の時代は、まさに茶の湯の歴史と重なることを再認識した。以上のような知見をもとに、成果発表としての論文を準備している。また、文学分野で示されていない文学者と職人たちの交流についても、各博物館・美術館にて知らされたことも多い。例えば2022年12月「帝室技芸員の印籠」展（清水三年坂美術館）における印籠展示品のキャプションには、江戸中後期の蒔絵作者と浮世草子作者との交友関係についての言及があった。言及されていた浮世草子作者の作品には、当然蒔絵の品物の描写があり、今後詳細な検討が必要とされると考えている。研究成果としては、『国文白百合』に「西鶴と太宰治ー『新釈諸国噺』「女賊」試論」と題し、浮世草子の描きたいものが近代に削ぎ落とされていく点に焦点を当て論じた。
