项目摘要

従来のコミュニティー概念は、ある特定の場所にいるある特定の人々であったということができるが、本研究によって、済州島出身者は、(1)同じムラの人々、(2)ケンダンとよばれるキンドレッド、(3)カプチャンとよばれる同年齢集団、これらを核にして、済州島の特定のムラから他所に移動しても、一種のネットワーク・コミュニティーを形成していることがわかり、これまでのコミュニティー概念再考が必要とされると考えられる。また、このネットワーク・コミュニティーは、本研究開始前までの筆者の研究によると、日本国内と済州島を結びつけるものであることが判明していたが、同様に、韓国国内の釜山等もネットののびている場所であることが、今回の研究によって明らかにされた。次に、前述の(3)カプチャンとよばれる同年齢集団についても今回の研究によってその存在の意味の研究について初めて着手されたといえる。さらに、歴史的にいえば、済州島からある程度の数の人の移動は海女の出稼ぎから始められた。これには日本の植民地政策が関係しているが、これらの海女たちは植民地状況による搾取とそれと連関したジェンダー支配をこうむりながらも巫俗を基盤としたコミュニケーション回路を使いながら、自らの生活とその規範を守り続けた。男性が日本の植民地政策によって日本人化され、またそれによって一部の者は社会的上昇が達成され、植民地近代の図式にはめられていったことと、これは対照的だといえる。また、この植民地化の過程において、新たにジェンダー秩序がつくられ、これが植民地支配と連関することによって、その支配が強化されていった反面、女性による「伝統的」巫俗の力がより発揮されたことも指摘されなければならないといえる。ここに植民地支配の二重性が見出せるので、今後この観点から近代における巫俗の意味について更なる研究が必要だと考えられる。
