本年度は4月にイギリスOxfordより予定を早めて帰国し、国内で研究を行った。コロナウィルス感染症の影響で、8月に予定していた国際学会European Association for Chinese Studies (EACS)での発表が1年延期され、また中国でのフィールドワークを行うこともできず、大変困難な1年となった。このため研究期間を2022年2月まで中断している。しかしながら、新しい研究交流の方法として広く用いられるようになったZoomやWebexを用いた研究会や学会に広く参加し、可能な研究交流の形を模索してきた。■論文・書評執筆書評として、アジア経済研究所から依頼された書評「李恩民著『中国農村の生活誌』」の執筆を行った（掲載雑誌ナンバーが決まっていないため業績に記載せず）。論文として、岩波書店より刊行予定の「シリーズ戦争と社会」第5巻の執筆に当たった。また、昨年度より引き続き英語論文”Memories of Collaborators with Japan in the Second Sino-Japanese War”の執筆を行ってきた。これらの論文は、最終的にフィールド調査による加筆が必要であり、中国への渡航が不可能であったため完成・投稿に至らなかった。なお、『パブリック・ヒストリー入門―開かれた歴史への挑戦』の再販に際して、同書に執筆した論文「戦争記憶をめぐる再帰的な歴史実践――オーラルヒストリーによる他者理解と自己理解」の大幅な加筆修正を行った。■資料収集主に東京大学東洋文化研究所図書館の資料を収集し読込みを行った。満鉄調査部よる『中国農村慣行調査』とそれに関連する研究書を読み直すことで、収録されている民間信仰や中国農村の共同意識に関する資料が、雨乞いと地域コミュニティの再生やレジリエンスに関する研究の土台を広げるのに重要であることを再発見した。
