英文摘要
The plastic properties of a material are determined by the behavior of dislocations. The project shall establish a link between experimentally observed dislocation structures and a stability analysis within a three-dimensional discrete dislocation dynamics simulation tool. During mechanical tests, dislocation networks are formed. These will be investigated experimentally at the University of Santa Barbara using a transmission scanning electron microscope (TSEM). The TSEM allows to analyze dislocations in relatively thick samples. The objective is twofold: (i) to better understand the nature of the observed structure thus improving the interpretation of the observations and (ii) to critically assess model assumptions and parameters within the dislocation dynamics framework.
