米国統治下の沖縄（1945-72年）では、米軍要員を除く被統治者に市民/外国人の区分が設けられ、その分割線は米本土や日本とも異なっていた。1954年以降、両者を分かつ基準は「沖縄県」戸籍となった。その結果、強制送還の適用を受け、諸権利から排除される「外国人＝非琉球人」に沖縄県籍以外の日本国籍者が含まれた。本研究は、非琉球人のうち他府県籍者（本土籍者）を対象とし、かれらの諸活動(権利獲得要請、相互親睦等)と集合意識との関係を歴史学的に実証する地域研究である。研究目的は、以下の3点である。１．本土籍者を在沖奄美出身者とその他に大別し、後者は西表の炭鉱労働者に着目し、各々の具体的な活動やその集合意識を再構成する。２．研究で得た資料やインタビュー等を記録する。３．かれらが非琉球人として生活条件（制度との関係等）が異なるにもかかわらず、沖縄県籍者（琉球住民）と同じ「日本人意識」を維持・再構した点を踏まえ、沖縄現代史の成果（復帰運動等）との比較等を通じて米国統治下沖縄の「日本人意識」の再編過程を歴史化する。本研究の実施内容は、１．人口動態の把握、２．在沖奄美出身者の諸活動の実態解明、３．奄美以外の本土籍者による諸活動の実態解明、４．米国統治下沖縄の「日本人意識」の分析である。2022年度まで、新型コロナ感染拡大のため海外での資料調査や当事者へのインタビューも容易ではなかった。そのため日本国内の文献調査等を中心に、１．米国統治下のセンサスを利用した各市町村別の本土籍者の数・割合の把握、２．西表炭鉱労働者の資料調査（八重山関係）、３．在沖奄美出身者の活動の調査を行った。これらを基に論文や研究コラムを執筆し、さらに本研究課題が外国人の権利保障や排外主義批判という現在の問題と共通し、また一般に知られていないことに鑑み、明治学院大学国際平和研究所との共催で国際シンポジウムを開催した。

This study is a regional study on the relationship between non-Ryukyu people and other government residents (native residents) and their activities (interest acquisition, mutual friendship, etc.), collective consciousness and historical evidence. The purpose of this study is to explore the following three points. 1. Native Americans reconstitute their collective consciousness by focusing on their specific activities in the United States and other countries, and by focusing on their specific activities in the West. 2. The study was conducted in the form of a report. 3. The living conditions of non-Ryukyu people (institutional relations, etc.) are different, the Japanese people (Ryukyu residents) are different, the "Japanese consciousness" is maintained, the achievements of modern history (restoration movement, etc.) are reconstructed, and the "Japanese consciousness" is reconstructed under American rule. The contents of this study are: 1. Understanding of population dynamics; 2. Explaining the activities of American-born people in Chongqing; 3. Explaining the activities of non-American-born people in Chongqing; 4. Analyzing the "Japanese consciousness" of Chongqing under American rule. In 2022, new types of infections were reported overseas, and the data of the parties involved were easily collected. 1. The number and combination of natives in each city and village under the administration of the United States; 2. The data survey of foreigners in the West (Yaeyama relationship); 3. The survey of activities of people born in the United States. This paper is based on the study of the common problems of foreigners 'profit protection and xenophobia criticism. It is also based on the study of Meiji Gakuin University's International Peace Research Institute.
