项目摘要

今年度は研究の2年目であり、研究計画に則して、課題(a)「当事者の動向」に関するまとめとして、資料の整理と読み込みを進めた。特に、図書館員の立場で『ピノキオ』事件に関わった当事者は、動向を図書館問題研究会愛知支部の機関誌に継続的に報告しており、当時の動向をこれまで以上に詳細に把握することができた。同時に、告発者の側からの資料の収集にも努めた。上記の課題(a)によって図書館問題研究会愛知支部の側から『ピノキオ』事件を検討できたことは、昨年度から着手し、すでに単著の中で論を展開した課題(b)「図書館界での反応」とも密接にかかわることであった。すなわち、今日の『ピノキオ』事件は「検討の三原則」に顕著なように、図書館界の一つの大きな教訓として継承されているが、同時代的な評価をめぐって議論も生じており、その最大の主戦場となったのは図書館問題研究会であった。『ピノキオ』事件に関わった一部の図書館員にとって、図書館問題研究会の支部の存在は、職場とは似て非なるローカルな情報共有と方針決定の場として機能していた。他方で、全国レベルの図書館問題研究会では、差別問題と図書館をめぐるそれぞれの地域的な事情も影響しながら、多様な立場から議論が続けられた。これは、当事者には図書館界のまなざしを意識させ、図書館界全体には、資料を提供することをめぐる図書館の社会的責任を意識させることへとつながっていった。これによって、「図書館の自由に関する宣言」の1979年改訂版が成立したり、図書館の中立性から知る自由（広義の知る権利の保障）へと図書館界の規範をめぐる議論が移行したりする一連の動向の中で差別図書問題が意識されることにつながった。そして、その一部は教訓として現在にまで伝えられ、一部は同時代的に決着しきれないこととして残されるに至った。
