项目摘要

本研究は近代日本の知識人によって日本の「古典」が定められ、それらが再解釈されていく歴史を一つの思想史として読み直し、近代という時代のなかで、日本の「古典」が持ち得た思想的意味の解明を目的とするものである。第一年次にあたる令和４（2022）年度においては、当初の計画通り先行研究を整理して資料の収集を進め、研究対象となる人物の選定を行った。その上で様々な対象人物の研究を進め、下記のような成果を上げることができた（成果を公開するためのウェブサイトも開設した）。第一に、従来から日本文学の分野では、エコクリティシズムの視点に基づき日本の古典と日本人の自然観の関係に着目する研究が行われてきたが、本年度はその成果をふまえつつ、古典解釈にともなう近世から近代にかけての日本像の変遷を思想史として捉え直した。近世に関しては本居宣長や西川如見といった人物を取り上げ、近代に関しては芳賀矢一や志賀重昂を考察の対象とした。その成果は第29回政治思想学会研究大会のシンポジウムⅡ「環境と自己像」において発表し、さらに論文も執筆した。第二に、昭和期の思想史における古典解釈を研究するにあたって坂口安吾を取り上げ、昭和思想史の文脈に位置付けながらその思想の考察を行った。安吾を取り上げたのは、安吾が保田與重郎ら同時代人の古典解釈を意識しつつ、それとは対照的な古典解釈と日本文化理解を提示したことによる。その成果は日本思想史学会学術大会で発表した。第三に、近代の『神皇正統記』受容史について考察を進めた。とりわけ山田孝雄や平泉澄、和辻哲郎、村岡典嗣、保田與重郎らによる昭和期の『神皇正統記』解釈の特色に着目し、明治期の解釈からの変化を明らかにした。これにより、今後明治期から昭和期にかけての古典受容史の流れを解明していくための手がかりを得ることができた。この成果は大阪歴史科学協議会の例会で発表した。
