本研究の目的は、自宅無拘束下で超小型ウェアラブル筋電計を用いて、これからOAを使用する予定のOSAS患者の睡眠時咬筋筋電図をOA非装着時とOA装着時で記録、解析することにより、OA装着時に歯を歯列弓ごと移動させてしまうほどの過度な筋力が働いているかどうかを検証することである。人に対する研究のため、2022年秋頃より倫理審査を行っており、現在予備審査中であるため、まだ実際に新規OSAS患者を被験者として、研究を進めることができていない状態である。本研究で実施する筋電図検査は、その結果により被験者自身のOA装着時の筋力の程度がわかり、治療のための参考データとして役に立つ可能性がある。また、研究成果により将来の医療の進歩のために貢献できる可能性がある。そのためには、超小型ウェアラブル筋電計により、より正確なデータを収集することが必要となる。そのために、現在は被験者相手に臨床研究は進められないものの、日常の診療においてOSAS関係なく、必要に応じてできるだけ多くの患者さんの咬筋筋電図を記録、解析することにより、超小型ウェアラブル筋電計を扱うことに慣れるというスキルアップを図っている。このことは、臨床研究の際により正確なデータを収集するために非常に重要な行程と考えられる。また、睡眠歯科学会に入会しているため、学会誌に掲載されている論文に目を通し、より最先端な知識をアップデートしている段階である。
