本研究の主な目的は、認知機能改善効果を認めた運動、座学、知的活動からなる認知機能低下予防プログラムを長期間実施することが認知症の発症予防につながるのかを検証することである。また、認知機能や身体機能等を経時的に評価し、長期間のプログラム実施による各種機能変化についても検証を行い、適切な予防介入につながる知見を見出すことも目的の一つとして研究を計画した。研究代表者は他者と共に、2016年度から鳥取県内で認知機能低下予防プログラムを開発して軽度の認知機能低下が疑われる人を対象に検証を行い、6か月間の介入により認知機能や身体機能を向上させる効果があったことを報告した。その後2019年度からは開発したプログラムを自治体等で活用していただけるように普及活動を行ってきた。徐々に導入地域が増えていると伺っており、既に数年にわたって継続して取り組まれている場所もあるが、長期的な実施によるプログラムの効果については前述の検証研究では分析できていなかった。介入研究を実施するには研究費やマンパワー確保の課題があり、長期間の追跡が困難なことより半年から1年程度の介入で終わるものが多い。そのため、緩徐に進行する認知症においては介入が発症予防につながるかを評価することが難しく、多くの研究で短期間における認知機能の改善効果しか検討できておらず、長期的な効果に関する知見は十分ではない。そこで、この課題を解決するために、我々が開発したプログラムが既に実装されている自治体において認知機能や身体機能のデータ収集、及び認知症発症の有無等を調査し、長期的な介入効果を検証する予定としていた。しかし、各自治体におけるプログラムを実施する教室の運営状況が研究計画立案時から変化していたため、今年度は収集するデータや対象とするフィールドを再検討することのみに留まった。

Although it is difficult to evaluate the slow progress of cognitive disorders, it is difficult to intervene to prevent them. However, many studies have been conducted in the short term but the results of improving cognitive function have not been discussed, and the knowledge about the long-term results has not been clear. To solve this problem, we need to develop a system to investigate cognitive function, body function, and the presence or absence of cognitive disorders in the autonomous body, and to determine the results of long-term intervention. The operation of the classroom in each autonomous region is discussed again when the study plan is filed.
