平成11年度の研究成果は次のようにまとめられる。1.各州教育当局からの資料の整理およびそのデータベース化各州(ワシントン・コロンビア特別区を含む)教育当局に対して資料送付行い、18州からの資料送付を受けた。送付された資料総数は123点である。また、3州からはインターネット上の関連ページ(教育法令原文、中等学校カリキュラム紹介、キャリア開発モデル、研究開発協力校等の各ページ)の紹介を受けた。なお、これらの資料等については、データベースを作成し、パーソナルコンピュータによる検索を行えるようにした。このような作業の結果、今日のアメリカではいわゆる学力の向上を目指した教育改革がキャリア選択援助実践にも大きな影響を与えていることが明らかとなった。具体的には、基礎科目領域の学習動機を強化するための中等カリキュラム、大学進学希望者に対する高度専門職業人(医師・先端科学技術者等)によるインターンシップの実践などが、広範に浸透していることが明らかとなった。2.国際学会における口頭発表1999年5月7日より9日までの日程で開催された「国際進路指導学会(International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance)」スロベニア大会(スロベニア共和国・ブレッド市)にて、本研究成果の中間発表(Career Guidance in Secondary Schools Today:through a Comaparative Analysis on the Educational Reforms in Japan and USA)を行った(発表要旨集「Zbornik-Poklicna orientacija na razpotju」所収)。
