十八世紀啓蒙思想のフランスにおける展開を主に百科全書思想家ディドロの著作を中心に考察し、これまで研究の掘り下げられてこなかった十八世紀的「生命学」-医学・生理学にとどまらず、そのひろがりは美学・哲学・文学・科学思想・道徳学をも含みまたがる-という動的な概念を下に調査した。研究上の主眼としては平成10年度期に『百科全書』を媒介とする同時代フランスの知的・文化的交流を分析すること。平成11年度期には、モンペリユ学派のボルドゥーやメシュレ・ド・シャンボー等医学者の生気論的生命概念の生成した文化的コンテクストとその知的系譜の諸概念を考察している。その結果、『ダウンベールの夢』の草稿生成において鍵となったディドロ晩年のノート『生理学要網』(Elements de Physiologie)における身体論的概念の転回点としての重要性が明らかになった。後期ディドロ思想の特徴を考察するためにこれらのテクストのもつ意義にあらためて光をあて、そこから逆照射することによって、ディドロおよび十八世紀啓蒙思想の特異な発展のありかたの問題を提起した。

The 18th Century Enlightenment Thought was developed in the main encyclopedia, and the works of thinkers were examined and studied in the 18th Century. The 18th Century "Life"-Medicine and Physiology was investigated in the concepts of aesthetics, philosophy, literature, scientific thought and morality. The main focus of the study is on the analysis of contemporary knowledge and cultural exchanges in the 10-year period of "encyclopedia" This paper reviews the concepts of life, culture, and genealogy of knowledge of medical scholars in the 11th year of Heisei. As a result, the importance of the concept of body theory in the "Elements de Physiologie"(Elements de Physiologie) has become clear when the draft of "ンールのDREAM" is generated.
