本研究の目的は、生徒が法・憲法について語る能動的な学習単元を開発し、歴史を語るという資質の成長をとらえる評価問題の開発と評価方法を解明することである。そのため、世界史教育における能動的な学びは、アクティヴ・ラーニングとして評価されるロールプレイの差異体験やジグソー法の他者交流などによる学びの変化に留まるものではなく、生徒と生徒、生徒と教師が協力して、歴史を語るという市民的資質を段階的に向上するものであることを明らかにすることを試みた。具体的には、ジグソー法の他者交流にトゥールミン図式を導入した単元「1791年憲法を考える」を開発した。単元は、フランス革命期の政治家や思想家の演説や著書を読み解き、1791年憲法に対する発言を生徒に考えさせた。そして、憲法賛成派は経済的自由を重視する価値観をもっていること、憲法反対派は平等を重視する価値観をもっていることを生徒と生徒、生徒と教師が協力して解明する活動を組織し、また、生徒自身が価値観を選択判断し、1791年憲法の内容について発言させるようにした。最後に、パフォーマンス評価にもとづく評価活動を組織することで、生徒自身がフランス革命や1791年憲法についての自分の語りを評価し、何をどのように学べば良いか学びの方向性を示せるようにした。本研究の意義は、トゥールミン図式を導入することで学びの段階性と向上性に基づく能動的な学習を組織できること、それ故に、パフォーマンス課題とその評価を導入することが可能になること、その結果、生徒の一人ひとりの達成水準が見えるようになり、子どもたちの学習が教師にも生徒自身にも理解でき、自分が授業で何を学んだのかを把握できるようになることを単元レベルで示したことである。今後の課題としては、本授業はモデル単元であるため、実践を繰り返すことで、単元構成や資料、グループ活動の方法などを精緻化していく必要がある。
