1 研究目的世界各国や日本などの多くの国で宇宙開発が進められている中, 日本での宇宙教育はほとんどなされていないのが現状である。そこで, 中学校の総合的な学習の時間の中で, 宇宙教育を取り入れ, その学習の有効性を検証する。2 研究方法生活の中で多くの恩恵を受けている技術やその技術の生かされている部分を学習することで, 近年の宇宙開発や次世代の宇宙開発の必要性について考えを深めていく。あわせて宇宙エレベーター実験キットを用いてプログラミングすることで宇宙開発への興味や関心を持たせることや難しさを体感させる。JAXAと連携し最先端の情報に触れる機会を設け, スペースコロニーや月面・火星基地のような居住について考えさせる。事前, 事後のアンケートを実施し, 意識の変容等を調査する。3 研究成果宇宙開発を中心とした単元(全13時間)は, 中学校第3学年の総合学習の中で取り扱い, 宇宙というかけ離れたものとならないように身近な宇宙産業を取り入れながら授業を進めた。具体的には, まず始めに「なぜ宇宙開発が必要なのか」という単元を貫く課題を提示し, 宇宙開発の歴史から取り組んだ。ダイヤモンドカットやカーナビといった宇宙技術のスピンオフを知り, 身近なところで多くのものが使用されていることに気付かせた。また, 歴史の中に出てくるロケットを, 画用紙火薬ロケットとして製作したり, 現在開発されている宇宙エレベーターをキットやタブレット端末を使用してプログラミングをさせながら体験させたりして, 宇宙への興味関心を持たせた。最後に, 宇宙での生活について, インターネットや書籍だけでなく, JAXAからの情報をもとに考えさせることで, 架空の内容でなく現実のものとしてとらえ, 理科で既習したことを活用しながら考えを深めることができた。事前事後のアンケート結果の比較から, 宇宙開発と私たちの生活との結びつきや未来への必要性が見られ, 宇宙教育の学習は有効であった。
