项目摘要

研究目的 : 「室蔵文庫」の解読を進め, 「江戸時代の旧出石藩における和算研究の状況」に焦点を置き研究を進めていきたい。研究方法 : ①「室蔵文庫」の刊本2冊をもとに, 旧出石藩の和算研究の状況を, 少しでも明らかにしていく。②「室蔵文庫」の中の「天元算」の内容を整理し, 「地域の和算」として教材化を行い, 貴重な文化遺産である「和算」を生徒に伝えたい。研究成果 : ①旧出石藩校「弘道館」の教授綱目に「算術」が含まれている。本年度何度か現地に出向き「出石町史」の編集者への聞き取り調査を行ったが, 編集者の高齢化と町史編纂からかなりの年数が経過していることなどにより, 残念ながら「出石町史」に記載されている以上の成果をあげることができなかった。「正補術」の著者である和田治郎, 「天元算」の著者である大谷善五郎はいずれも竹村好博の門人であり, 竹村を通して, 江戸の和算が出石藩に紹介され, 研究されていたことがうかがえる。特に「天元算」については, 豊臣秀吉の朝鮮出兵の際持ち帰られたとされる「算学啓蒙」によって初めて我が国にもたらされたもので, これを理解するために多くの和算家の多大な努力があったとされている。この「天元術」が出石藩でどのように研究され普及していったかを研究することは興味のあることであると考える。②「天元算」は全問が一次・二次方程式を扱っている。中学生にも充分に理解できるものである。本年度は, その内容を・複数の円と四角形・円と菱形・円と円などの視点で分類し, まとめることができた。しかし, 本文の内容のままでは, 現代数学になじまない点もあることから, 今後はそれらの内容をさらに検討し, 数学の教材として使いやすいように編輯をしていきたいと考えている。
