本研究の目的は, 中学校技術・家庭科(技術分野)における, ものづくりを通じた課題解決プログラムの検証研究であった。具体的には, 身近な施設・設備(学校内や自宅など)を生徒自らがCADソフトを利用しバリアフリー化することである。これからのものづくりを考えた場合, 「バリアフリー」の視点は非常に重要であり, また, 将来のわが国の現状を見つめ, 自立に向けた課題解決学習を習得させることが必要であると考えた。それらの能力を身に付けた中学生を育成する課題解決に対する教育内容・指導法を提案, 実証するのが本研究の目的であった。今回の研究で, 授業内における生徒の課題解決能力向上に関するアンケートを実施した。それらの結果から, 知識と実践的な体験が結びつく学習こそが, 課題解決に向かう力を増幅させる要因であるという結果が出た。また, 生徒たちが作成したデザインサンプルも多数あり, 発想豊かな生徒作品の検証を行なってきた。より多くの優れた作品サンプルの収集, そして, 詳細なカリキュラム構築に向けた内容の充実を図ることができた。また, それらからは, 年を重ねるごとにすばらしい提案がなされている。キャップハンディ体験や国土交通省が定めた「公共交通機関の移動等円滑化整備ガイドライン」などを通じ, バリアフリーに関する知識について十分な学習を行ってきた。生徒たちは, 目の前にある課題(ハード面)を図面上で除去する方法については身に着けてきたが, 現実社会のそれがバリアフリーになっているのかといえば, 大きな疑問を抱いている。一般社会がこの考えに追い付いていないのが現状であろうと感じている。今後, 課題解決へ向かう姿勢を利用し, ソフト面(心のバリアフリー)に重点を置いた学習プログラムの開発が必要であると考える。「バリアフリー」の視点は非常に重要であり, それはハード面の改善のみならずソフト面(心のバリアフリー)の充実という両輪がバランスよく備わってはじめて達成できるものである。特に, それらの能力を身に付けた中学生を育成するカリキュラムの構築こそが本研究のねらいであるので, グループで問題にあたる姿勢(グループ学習)が重要であり, また, 実践的な学習と基礎知識との融合を図り, それらの関係を整理, 検証することができたことは, 今回の成果として非常に重要な点である。
