本研究では、「話す」時に、どのようなことに気をつけると、より相手に伝わりやすいのか、(発音、ジェスチャーをつける、適切な発話速度、顔の表情など)という、発話に関するコミュニケーションストラテジーに注目し、どのような方法が発話能力を補うストラテジーとして有効かを探った。さらに今後、外国語活動の教科化を見据えて、タブレット型端末を利用した自己評価や相互評価の画像や映像をデジタルポートフォリオ化するため方策を考えた。発話能力を補うストラテジーとしては、タブレットを使用し、単元に応じてお互いの活動を写真や動画で撮影してきた。その中でも特に自己紹介ビデオ、プロモーションビデオ(以下PV)創りをすることによって、自分をプロモートするときに、どのような工夫が相手により自分を伝えられるのかを考えるきっかけになった。その時にあげられたものは、誕生日や年齢をいいながらジェスチャーをつける。自分の出来ることを伝えるために実際にピアノを弾いたりサッカーのシュートを決めたりすることが有効であると気づいた。また、発話のスピードや発音においても何度も自分たちのPVを見返し、友だちと聞き合いながら進めていく中でよりよい速度や口の開け方に気づけた。そして、毎時間撮影した写真や映像の中でその日の一番出来の良かったものを、タブレットのメール機能を使用し、デスクトップパソコンへ送信させることで、タブレットごとにデータを吸い上げたり、タブレット内に保存されたデータの中から完成版を探たりする手間も省くことが可能となった。それだけはなく、送られてきたデータを教師側がデスクトップパソコン上にフォルダを作り保存することで、デジタルポートフォリオとして活用することができた。
