平成10年度は、昨年より着手した「中央コイサン語の比較研究のための多言語データベース作成」の2年目として、当初の計画にそって、1)資料の収集、2)中央コイサンの各言語において作成した/しつつある語彙データベースの統合の試み、3)比較研究の観点からの個別語の記述・分析、を行った。1) 既にある中央コイサン語資料を購入および複写によって収集した。また同時にその記述分析のために必要な言語学関係基本文献および人類学分野の資料も収集した。2) 多言語データベース統合の第一歩として、作成した/しつつある個別語のデータベース(Naro語、Nama語、|Gui語、Tshela語および収録語彙数の少ないいくつかの中央コイサン語)それぞれの単純語に対して全体の統合のための検索キーとなる英語による意味項目を追加した。これは、それぞれの研究者によるコイサン語の語彙につけられている意味記述(英語・日本語・ドイツ語による)をもとにして作成した。検索効果を考えて、すべての個別語資料に対して一貫した語を用いるようにした。意味分野によっては第一検索キーだけでなく第二検索キーもたてた。また、英語で意味をとらえた場合多義語扱いになってしまうものについては、それぞれ別項目として扱うことにした。それぞれの言語の音声表記については、研究者によって表記方法が著しくことなりまた音韻解釈もことなることを考慮して、形式を統一しないことにした。ただし電子化が困難な文字が多く使われているので、キー入力や検索がしやすい記号に変換して入力した。3) 研究代表者が平成9年に収集したTshela語の音韻分析および一部の文法体系の分析を、すでに記述が進められている|Gui語・||Gana語との比較研究の観点から、進めた。この成果の公表は準備中である。
