本研究は、グイ語における節連結の基本の型が非対称的な等位接続であるという、これまで重視されてこなかった事実に注目して、これが最大談話全体に及ぶことを示し、談話・会話構造における特殊現象と言語構造における特殊現象とがこの型を土台にどのように相互に関連しあっているかを、文法的に精度の高いコーパスを用いた分析によって明らかにしようとするものである。初年度は、この研究で資料として利用する(1)グイ語コーパスの作成・整備と、(2)新規データの収集を進めた。(1)については、これまでに収集した録音資料から、５分から８分程度の短めの物語・pear story・インタビュー、15分から20分程度の話し手一人による民話という様々なジャンルの談話資料をELANを用い電子化した。(2)については、都内在住のグイ・ガナ両言語の母語話者の協力を得ることができ、写真を見てそれを説明するという課題を通して両言語の節連続のデータを収集した。これらを通して、グイ語に見られる非対称等位接続と相対時制が、もっとも系統の近い言語の１つであるガナ語では見られないことが明らかになった。この事実が、総合的にどのように両言語の談話構造の違いとして現れるのか（あるいは現れないのか）をコーパス資料を通して見ていくのが来年度以降の課題となる。次に、これらの資料を利用して、文法項目として(1)節タイプと連結方法、および(2)節内部の動詞周辺現象を観察した。(1)については、近隣のツワナ語からの借用語xoreが、補文構造をほとんど持たないグイ語において、かなり強力な補文標識として一部の話者に利用されていることがほぼ確定できた。(2)については、動詞タイプとイベントおよび移動をどのようにコード化しているかについて量的に研究を進めるため、マーキングの必要な項目をリストアップしタグ付けを一部開始した。
